Resources for relievers

Experienced relief teachers have generally built up years of resources that they know well and can adapt quickly to suit a group of students.  But if you are a beginning relief teacher you will not have this advantage.  The resources on this page are a good place to start.

Te Kete Ipurangi (TKI) is a NZ Ministry of Education site that provides information and resources
SparkleBox is a fantastic site for free teaching resources
The BBC site has lots of great multi media resources for teachers to use 
Topmarks is another UK site that has resources across all subjects
Read Write Think site has an abundance of quality literacy resources
Primary Resources general primary level teaching resources
Pics for learning has copy-write friendly images for teachers and student use
Wordle is a site where you can create 'word clouds'.  This is a fun and interesting online activity.
ReadyEd has a site where you can and download some excellent resources for relief teachers, although you do need to actually buy them
Wises maps - quickly and easily find the location of the school you are teaching at and directions

Books
There are some excellent books designed specifically for relief teachers in New Zealand.  A selection are listed below, and of course general teaching resources can be adapted to suit the relief teacher.  Some relief teachers design their own 'day programmes'.

These books provides a thematic activities across the curriculum that can be adapted to different primary school levels.  There are teacher notes and explanations as wells as photocopy masters.
